Coach’s Corner

I am brand new to this. I am giving it a try. I had a rough day today but in return go a day off. I had a problem with my eye and had to go to the optometrist. She told me to wear my glasses for a while. It was so wierd. I couldn’t see. I had to pull my car over. But, I managed to get some homework done. I will be up most of tonight. School is frustrating……… no matter what major you have. It’s not just hard for those sceince math people. I am not a school guy. I put homework off forever, type with 2 fingers, and do the minimum to get by. I am listening to the theme song from “Friday Night Lights” the movie. It almost brings a tear to my eye. My football days ended around this time 4 years ago. I didn’t know how I would moe on. I look back at those days and wish I could go back. Go back and be a kid again. But, life moves on. Our joys that are no more lead us on to new ones. I miss playing so much. I coach the Jr. High Boys in their Championship game on Thursday in Redlands. I remember my JH championship. A tough loss. My last game with some of my closest friends. It’s funny….. when you are a kid you can’t wait to grow up. But as an adult, you long for those nights changing before a game making sure your whole uni was just right. After sliding on your shoulder pads and putting on eye black, you follow your teammates out the door for the long walk to the greatest place on earth…………. a football stadium. As you get closer the sound gets louder. I miss it so much. I pray that the young men who still get to do it cherish every second. Each one lasts a lifetime. I would give anything for 1 quarter……… 1 series………… 1 play. Anything…………….

If our future is now then what is the past? “Then?” Unfortunately is is behind us and there is no way to turn around. It is so important to enjoy the good things in life. They don’t last forever. But the memories do, whether happy or painful. I look ahead to what? What lies ahead? I wish I knew.  Well, here we go…………..
